§ 24-14. Designation of certain private roads as highways for law enforcement purposes.

  • (a)

    Private roads located in any residential development within the city containing one hundred (100) or more lots or residential dwelling units are hereby designated as highways for law enforcement purposes.

    (b)

    The city police department shall enforce all provisions of the City Code and the Code of Virginia regarding motor vehicles and traffic on such private roads. Any law enforcement officer of the city properly enforcing such laws shall not be subject to any civil or criminal action for trespass while enforcing such laws upon any such private road.

    (c)

    The designation herein of certain private roads as highways for law enforcement purposes shall not constitute acceptance of any such private road for public ownership or maintenance.
