§ 5.4. Validation and ratification of bonds, taxes and contracts.

  • All bonds issued and sold, all contracts, agreements and obligations made at any time prior to the enactment of this Charter or any amendment thereto by the governing body of the city, and the former Town of Manassas Park, not inconsistent with the Constitution of Virginia and general law, all taxes assessed and levied when the city was a town, and when the city was in transition from the status of a town to that of a city of the second class to the effective date of this Charter and its amendments, are hereby validated, ratified and confirmed; and all other proceedings authorizing the issuance of bonds, notes or other obligations of the City of Manassas Park and the former Town of Manassas Park heretofore had are hereby validated, ratified and confirmed and shall not lapse or terminate or be otherwise affected by reason of any of the provisions contained in this Charter, and such bonds, notes or other obligations may be authorized, sold or issued in accordance with the provisions of law in force prior to the effective date of this Charter or in accordance with the provisions of this Charter.
