§ 2-12. Assessment of additional court cost to support court-related facilities, construction, renovation and maintenance.

(a)

There shall be assessed, in addition to any other fees prescribed by law, as a part of the cost incident to each criminal or traffic case filed in the courts which serve the city the sum of two dollars ($2.00).

(b)

The assessment levied by subsection (a) above shall be collected by the clerk of the court in which the action is filed and remitted monthly to the treasurer of the city. Such funds shall be held by the treasurer of the city subject to disbursements by city council for the construction, renovation or maintenance of courthouse or jail and court-related facilities and to defray increases in the cost of heating, cooling, electricity, and ordinary maintenance, pursuant to the provisions of Code of Virginia, § 17.1-281.
