§ 2-13. Assessment of courthouse security fee.

  • (a)

    There shall be assessed, in addition to any other fees prescribed by law, as part of the cost incident to each criminal or traffic case filed in the district or Circuit Courts which serve the city, in which the defendant is convicted of a violation of any statute or ordinance, the sum of ten dollars ($10.00).

    (b)

    The assessment levied by subsection (a) above shall be collected by the clerk of the court in which the case is heard and remitted monthly to the treasurer of the city subject to appropriation by the governing body to the sheriff's office for the funding of courthouse security personnel, pursuant to the provisions of section 53.1-120, Code of Virginia (1950).
